A Heap of Anime Updates Landed During the Festive Season

The Christmas holidays present a multitude of pastimes much better than catching up on the headlines: opening presents, getting stuffed on delicious food, and using deep breathing to refrain from yelling at family members. It is wished you succeeded in do all these things and more. However, the entertainment world never sleeps, and this is especially true for the realm of anime. A slew of exciting news items came out over the break, and if you missed a few, here is a summary of the most exciting bits.

One-Punch Man Season 3 Will Continue (In 2027)

Perhaps the most shocking revelation, the much-discussed controversial season that was the third season of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to halt more episodes. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—such a distant date they could have dubbed it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will remain leading the project. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is attached to direct from the beginning, which could be taken as a hopeful indicator. Yet, the key visual for the second cour is the same image the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This suggests that, nowadays, they must be trolling the fans.

The Ruri Dragon Series Will Be the First Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has established a standing for being an prestigious animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the high caliber of its output but for the fair treatment of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not produced an anime adapted from a manga from Shonen Jump, possibly the most iconic magazine in the business. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a great choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved a huge following when it launched in 2022 after just a few chapters, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it came back with a reduced workload, the series showed it still retained the fans' affection and positive sentiment, and now fans are ecstatic about the impending KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom Season 6 Will Get a Sequel Now in the Works

Kingdom is the top-selling, epic Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English localization, but the anime has been going on for a while, and its sixth season was another outstanding entry. As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been announced as in production, and it will probably premiere in 2026.

Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia To Anime

A further studio known for the superior craftsmanship of its work, Science Saru has brought us masterpieces of the ilk of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, lastly, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the actual historical person of Fatima, an prominent woman and scholar in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime titled Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a truly original and intriguing visual style, which reminds me a bit of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my must-watch list.

The Tougen Anki Series Is Set to Continue With a Season Two

Right after the conclusion of episode 24, it was announced that Tougen Anki will be securing a second season. Inspired by the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The new season of the anime will adapt the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a concrete air date has yet to be revealed.
