Preceding the debut of her new YouTube series, one phrase echoed repeatedly: “They attempted to silence her.” The reality is no such action was required, since Truss demonstrated a clear aptitude of accomplishing that feat solo.
A Delayed Debut
Episode 1, she declared online, would premiere on Friday at 6pm. But, at the appointed hour, the show was absent. Five minutes later with still no sign, her devotees became impatient. “What happened to the show?” they inquired online. A few more minutes passed. “For goodness sake, Liz, organize yourself,” sighed another. Nearing half past the situation suggested like Truss had as much grasp of uploading content to YouTube as she did of the UK's economic landscape.
Then, however, against all odds, The Liz Truss Show finally appeared. A full hour late. It is assumed since she remains confused about adjusting timepieces back from British Summer Time.
A Truly Unhinged Introductory Speech
So, an inauspicious start. However, what came next was perhaps the barking mad initial soliloquies one can recall. “You’d have to be consuming mainstream media to remain ignorant that the nation is in rapid decline,” was her opening, seated within a confined area containing the sort of books that pubs buy by the metre.
The theme of the monologue became obvious: The UK faces grave difficulties. “Independent enterprises are failing. Major corporations are departing … People are having to pull their own teeth out,” she groaned. We live in a crime-ridden, socialist, Islamist dystopia. Were they to produce the classic sitcom now, she suggested, the iconic bureaucrat would be “a militant trans rights advocate”. To make matters worse, the public don’t realise this as journalistic outlets, preoccupied with upscale cafes and private estates, withhold the real story.
The Liz Truss Show is motivated solely by Liz Truss wants America to love her, although the only thing American audiences remember about her pertains to the time she presented her book the wrong way up on Fox News once.
An American Primary Goal
Here the reality was starkly evident the show's fundamental purpose. Ignored domestically to such an extent that she went unrecognized at a public event, Truss is now pinning her future on winning the favor of right-wing America. Her opening monologue amounted to a laundry list of populist right-wing tropes regarding the UK. Her ambition is to be a modern propagandist for Trump, or at least an iteration of the wartime broadcaster who seemed like a collection of wrenches had fallen on him.
Awkward Conversations
After the soliloquy, she began speaking with the invited speakers. Initial guest was a certain commentator, described as “the UK's leading newsletter author”. It's reasonable to guess he was there since, for an abnormally long amount of time, the focus remained solely on the host. On one occasion, as soon as the guest began speaking, the camera lingered on the host for forty entire seconds. It's hard to say about the experience of that length of time watching her without sound, blinking and gulping, and it proves to be a disquieting spectacle. I wouldn’t wish it on anybody.
Following a short discussion with a second guest – a talk show host sporting a liberty-themed shirt – the show moved on to a past Brexit Party representative a certain politician, who, as expected frothed on about the issue of immigration. The standout moment about her interview is how it ended, ending jarringly just as she ventured onto a controversial line about how to “encourage” documented foreigners to depart Britain. Whatever could have happened? Could her words have been considered over the line, or was it that darn Deep State censoring her once more? We may never know.
A Tragic Endeavor
It is remarkable to consider this entire project exists purely because Truss's craving for American affection, notwithstanding that the main fact the U.S. remembers related to her is her televised blunder with a publication during a Fox News segment. And so she has settled for this broadcasting from a cramped setting on the internet, similar to the initial victim in a disaster film. One might call it sad if it were not so profoundly foolish.
The second episode of The Liz Truss Show will be aired the following Friday evening. Which is, contingent on Liz Truss has learned how clocks work before then.
