Fans Demand Detainment of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande was in Singapore for the international debut of Wicked: For Good

Loyal fans of the actress are calling for that a individual who leaped a barrier and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.

A circulating footage shows the person identified as Johnson Wen shoving aside media personnel and lunging at Grande while the cast walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.

Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo promptly guided the stunned star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the premiere by event staff.

Mr Wen shared on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.

Pattern of Disruptions

This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed features recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers performance in the same location last year.

"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is obviously a punishable act," commented an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" another Instagram user remarked.

Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Well-being

Several fans blamed Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, killing 22 people and harming numerous individuals.

"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" commented another message on Instagram.

Several fans also criticised guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's uploads.

Response and Event Details

In videos circulating online, Grande looked surprised when she was touched by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.

Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.

Fans at Wicked premiere
Hundreds of Singapore supporters had lined up to meet the cast of Wicked

Many of fans had gathered in a crowd of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it began.

The motion picture, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual adaptation of the well-known theatrical show Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two very different sorceresses.

The musical itself is a adaptation of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was adorned in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.

They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The initial film, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and received 10 award recognitions, securing two for best costume and production design.
