Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated Following Nine-Month Period in Israeli Imprisonment

A American-Palestinian teenager after completing a nine-month period in Israeli detention without charge was released.

Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 at the time of his arrest this past winter within the occupied West Bank, during a family visit while residing in Florida for allegedly throwing stones at Jewish settlers, which he previously denied.

United States authorities said it welcomed the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital right after being freed, relatives told the media.

They said he is visibly pale and thin, and experiencing medical problems contracted in captivity.

Via family representatives, family spokesperson conveyed their "tremendous relief".

Family member Zeyad Kadur stated the family experienced "surviving a terrible, unending nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Right now, our priority is ensuring Mohammed receives prompt healthcare he requires after being subjected to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions over several months."

US officials stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance for the Ibrahim family.

Twenty-seven US lawmakers had signed a letter to the state department and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.

The father, with four children operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his son only confessed regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

There were no visits or communicated with his son since the arrest, learning information solely about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

Mohammed was held absent formal charges within Ofer penitentiary on the West Bank.

Additionally housing adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty of serious terrorism offences and murder.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, including UN bodies, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, family representatives announced the family would also continue fighting for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen per medical officials died from beating by radical settlers during a confrontation in July.

Initially, the Israeli military said they were examining reports a Palestinian civilian was deceased.

Mohammed and Sayfollah collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment in Tampa, Florida.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We demand United States leadership to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
